Supervisor- Accounts Payable


Portland, ME, US Orange, CT, US





Scope of Work - Main duties, settings, geography, reporting relationships, other relationships:


Supervise the planning and direction of accounts payable processes and activities, including the records of amounts owed and the prompt payment of invoices.  Provide technical recommendations and assistance to management and field personnel.


MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Scope of work - range of responsibilities):


1. Plans, schedules and directs all activities in the accounts payable function within established accounting policies of the organization.  (50%, Primary)

2. Responsible for managing technical aspects of OCR (Optical Character Recognition) software and OCR processes. (20%, Primary)

3. Oversees the processing and verification of invoices, coding of expenses, preparation of vouchers, and issuance of checks for payment. (10%, Secondary)

4. Ensures timely payments of vendor invoices and expense vouchers and maintain accurate records and control reports. (10%, Secondary)

5. Recommends changes in methods or procedures to improve the efficiency of the accounts payable function.  (5%, Secondary)

6. Reviews applicable accounting reports and accounts payable register to ensure accuracy.  (5%, Secondary)

Skills and Requirements



Education & Experience Required:


4-6 years of experience in accounting, finance, or related field.

Working knowledge of mainframe accounting systems.

Broad knowledge of accounting principles, practices and procedures.

Leadership experience.


Required Education:  Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.




Able to lead a team to predetermined results.
