Analyst, Bus Sys-Car (REN 9656)

Overview

The role of the Business Analyst is to support business applications and power scheduling/trading systems as well as provide expertise in design and development of creative solutions to support key business functions.  The main focus of this position will be Front Office to Back Office support for the Trading, Scheduling, and Balancing Authority systems.  The scope of this position requires strong technical skills, and the ability to work independently and in teams with good communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of tasks with minimal supervision to deliver projects on-time
  • Focused, hands-on application support for power trading systems using a variety of technologies
  • Work with users to define system requirements for new systems and to resolve issues in current processes
  • Write detailed descriptions of user needs, system processes, program functions and the steps required to modify them
  • Provide business and technical expertise to the user community
  • Act as a liaison to provide IT teams and business personnel with clear understanding of business requirements - build and maintain strong internal customer relationships
  • Provide support for migration of upgrades, patches, new releases for power trading/scheduling systems

Note:  In order to support early morning trading and scheduling, this position may be required to work the 7AM to 4PM shift as business requires

Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in systems analysis/design, however, we will consider candidates with more experience at a higher level
  • A Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Some knowledge of object oriented programming languages (Java and/or .NET) and SQL
  • Outstanding customer service and communication skills
  • Windows and the complete MS Office Suite
  • Strong teamwork skills with self-motivation to achieve success
  • Strong knowledge of IT concepts, practices, controls and procedures
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical personnel.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of specific energy software products – OATI webTrader, Sungard Aligne(TRM, GasOps, AIF), PI, Meteoflow, Meteologica, QuickFIX/J, ICE eConfirm
  • Knowledge of RTO/ISO Markets – PJM, MISO, ISONE, NYISO, CAISO, ERCOT
  • Working knowledge of energy trading, scheduling, invoicing, reporting, ISO markets
