This position supervises the day-to-day work activities of the workforce using effective supervisory practices that promotes both team and individual job performance. Ensures adherence to safety rules, standards and work practices; maintains good housekeeping; and

ensures employees accept safety as their personal responsibility. Provides leadership and direction to the workforce to achieve goals and objectives. Strives to meet customer expectations and provide a valued service.

 Lead the activities of crews engaged in constructing and operating the ES infrastructure in accordance with construction standards as well as safe and efficient work practices.

 Manage emergency and storm restoration events; be available (on call) 24/7 during assigned periods Perform safety audits, incident investigations and follow-up on unsafe conditions or practices in a timely manner. Hold self and others accountable for following UI safety rules, safe work practices and DEEP/DOT/OSHA regulations.

 Develop and execute short and midterm work plans. Ensure customer appointments and schedules are met. Engage other companies and agencies in a positive and professional manner to ensure UI priorities are identified and met.

 Work with other departments, especially engineering, to develop solutions to project objectives. Mentor new engineers and project managers in construction practices.

 Ensure employees receive necessary skill development Time Merit Progression (TMP) training. Understand and comply with the collective bargaining agreement; address grievances in a timely manner; take appropriate disciplinary actions when warranted.

 Effectively utilize information systems (STORMS, Maximo, OMS, TrackStar, ARCOS) to support day-to-day and follow-up

Skills and Requirements

Associates Degree in engineering or other technical discipline preferred. Other candidates may be considered who have at least 13 years of very strong electric distribution experience as a line worker or in electrical construction operations including a minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in a union environment.
Knowledge of computerized management systems (e.g., STORMS, Maximo, etc.) required. Individual must have a thorough knowledge of operating procedures, switching and tagging, and the ability to read and understand technical manuals, wiring prints, schematics and diagrams for equipment for assigned area. Substation Supervisor's must also be qualified on CONVEX's
switching and tagging list. Must be available for on-call, as needed. Commercial driver's license (CDL) preferred.
