Lead IT Architect - Infrastructure

Responsibilities

This position will be a senior technical architect for the Wintel team in Avangrid Networks. This team is responsible for managing the deployment, configuration, administration, and support activities for all corporate x86 server infrastructure. This includes hardware, the MS Windows and Red Hat Linux operating systems, and other supporting software. The infrastructure is integrated into the Avangrid IT infrastructure ecosystem, and overall, part of the Iberdrola global infrastructure.

The Architect will ensure x86 server infrastructure demands are met as well as provide support and guidance to team members, as needed.

The successful candidate will possess a high-level of technical expertise in infrastructure architecture and overall systems integration.

Key Responsibilities

Represents the Wintel team in projects; gathers business requirements and architects / designs new infrastructure solutions to meet business needs, including DR solutions.

Following Avangrid and Global Standards, define technological direction of the team. Point of escalation for technical items. Main Systems Architect.

Manage coordination with peers in Avangrid and Global to ensuring adherence to global infrastructure blueprints and roadmaps.

Acts as Project Manager for lifecycle and project implementation and integration efforts; plans, coordinates, communicates and executes leading cross-functional teams as required.

Represents the Wintel team during cyber investigations and audit preparation; analyzes data/evidence to identify potential cyber incidents and vulnerabilities. Conducts research and process analysis as required to assess impact to corporate information assets and adherence to regulatory compliance requirements. Makes recommendations for corrective actions. Represents the Wintel team in investigations with legal and law enforcement entities, as required.

Work closely with applications teams and key stakeholders to enable solid infrastructure.  Perform, coordinate, and manage tasks to ensure business success of the application environment

Work closely with both technical and non-technical staff to create a resilient and highly available infrastructure for systems operations.

Responsible to lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of a solid information security infrastructure, paying special attention to regulatory requirements such as (but not limited to) SOX and NERC CIP.

Develops and maintains up-to-date documentation and procedures that define the operability of the Wintel Infrastructure platforms.

Implements operational monitoring tools and procedures of infrastructure platforms for performance and adherence to Avangrid defined availability metrics. Makes recommendations when necessary to meet the expected demands.

Participate in a rotating on-call schedule

Skills and Requirements

Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum 5 years deploying complex technical projects/efforts in the field of Server Administration

Minimum 5 years involvement in complex efforts with demanding customers.

Project management experience.

Strong overall understanding of relevant business procedures.

Excellent team leader.

High-level understanding of operating systems and infrastructure architecture.

Vendor management experience

Available for travel (>10%) nationally and internationally.
 

Technical Capabilities

Minimum 5 years Windows system administration and support (2019, 2016, 2012, 2008 R2, 2003, 10, 7, XP) 

Minimum 5 years Microsoft Active Directory experience (DNS, DHCP, GPO, DFS, etc.)

Experience in virtualization environments, including VMware, MS Hyper-V, Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization

Deep level of x86 server infrastructure experience

Deep knowledge of MS Windows and Red Hat Linux operating systems

Solid OSI model comprehension
