Lead Analyst - Insurance (Casualty Legal & Project Coordination)

Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Director of Insurance and Risk, this position is involved in all aspects of the oversight, management, structure, design (financial and other) and negotiation of Corporate Insurance and Risk Financing Programs related to Casualty and Liability Lines of Insurance.   Position requires mentoring of colleagues within the Insurance Team and lending experience and knowledge to assist others in the department and affiliated OpCo’s and Business Areas.  Must be able to analyze contracts (services, supply, construction, financing), contract structures, implications of related clauses and counter-party insurance program structures.  Candidate must have the ability to work independently, have a background in Casualty/Liability Claims and Claims Management with knowledge of claim reserve setting, valuation and impacts on financial reporting.  Candidate must process in-depth knowledge of insurance policy/contract structures, tort law and meanings and intent of insurance and legal principles.  Position also requires the ability to understand financial statements, identify and analyze risks and recommend and execute strategies for risk control and risk mitigation. 

Maintains a working and current knowledge of legal, regulatory and competitive market environment influencing the price and availability of insurance and related, risk management solutions - makes recommendations to Director, Corporate Insurance and Risk

Monitor industry trends and insurance market conditions for managing Casualty/Liability exposures and alternative risk financing structures

Monitor regulations, laws and statues applicable to the development of the Department's activity (Insurance, Civil Liability, Environment, etc.)

Review of contracts (supplies, works, services, financing, etc.) and issuance of recommendations on risks and insurance

Identification of new and developing risk to Company and/or its operations

Participation in Due Diligence processes related to acquisition or sale of assets or companies, new projects

Responsibilities will also include leading the annual renewal of Casualty/Liability Insurance Programs (including the preparation and submittal of renewal applications and data), management of those programs and other related functions. 

Support in the negotiation, contracting and management of Casualty Insurance Program(s) – including annual program renewals

Annual Renewal of AVANGRID WC programs and related Payroll Audits

Interact with Brokers, Consultant and Insurance Carrier Underwriters and/or Executives

Manages “Casualty”/Liability Claims in SAP RIMIS Coded as “Reported to Insurer” (and/or over $30,000 incurred)

Monitors and reports on loss trends, reserve development and monthly/quarterly reports to AVANGRID Accounting with respect to open Casualty Claims

Completion of related “Internal Controls” associated with retained loss cost financing of Casualty/Liability Claims

Communicate effectively verbally and in writing to all levels of staff and management, outside officials and agencies, and the public, expressing ideas and instructions clearly and concisely.
 
EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:

Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in Casualty/Liability Insurance/Risk Management or Claims.

Brokerage or related Experience Placing/Negotiating Insurance Program Renewals involving large complex risk exposures, insurance terms and financial structures    

Knowledge of risk management information systems, c casualty insurance and claims handling procedures.

Working knowledge of PC applications and mainframe databases/systems (Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Visio).

Experience with Accounting and or accounting systems required.
 
REQUIRED EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Risk, Law or a related field
 

Must be willing to travel as position requires.
