Lead Analyst - GIS Operations I

Demonstrates complete proficiency in the updating/maintenance of the electric and/or gas infrastructure within the Geographic Information System (GIS) using prescribed processes and procedures. The Lead Analysts demonstrates a practical knowledge of the gas and electric systems as well as a working knowledge of engineering and construction policies and procedures. They provide the ability to identify and solve potential problems before publishing/releasing the data for use by other departments. Develops and maintains geospatial data and data repository.  Provides training/mentoring to Analysts within the department.

MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Scope of work - range of responsibilities):

•    Performs updates to the gas and/or electric Distribution and Transmission GIS computer models while ensuring compliance with the Asset Rules and company Operating Procedures. (20%)
•    Verifies the accuracy of the SAP Master Data records, initiates with the Master Data Group the resolution of discrepancies between the Master Data records and the completed work order sketches, secures additional information not maintained in the SAP records, and conduct field audits and obtain GPS locations as needed. (20%)
•    Performs quality control checks of the Distribution and Transmission computer models. (20%)
•    Proficient with certain practices and procedures of other departments with regard to how they affect and relate to the computer models.  (20%)
•    Provides oversight of other GIS Operations personnel and Contractors to ensure that the work is completed in the most professional, efficient, and accurate manner.  May involve application and process training for new employees or contractors. (20%)

Skills and Requirements

Education & Experience Required:

•    Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 3 years relevant experience preferred. 
•    Associates Degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience required.
•    Skilled in at least 90% of the specific functions of an Analyst/GIS Assistant.


•    Demonstrated excellence in available CAD and GIS systems.
•    Able to train others in GIS topics.
•    Able to follow prescribed guidelines and procedure and demonstrate complete proficiency in analyzing and updating the GIS models
