Job Summary
Perform technical training for all meter testers and stock handlers. Clean, test, calibrate, repair, recondition and programming of all types and forms of watthour meters. Accurately enter meter data on the ADM (meter inventory and tracking) system. Accurately enter data on the ADM and SAP SmartCare system. Responsible for the repair and/or reconditioning of all types of instrument transformers.
Responsibilities
- Perform technical training to all meter and instrument transformer testing in the Meter Lab.
- To clean, test, inspect and calibrate all types and forms of watthour meters and replace parts as necessary.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and/or install auxiliary boards in meter such as NICs, Pulse initiators and modems into meters.
- To become familiar with and obtain the knowledge required to accurately program and verify electronic and solid state watthour meters in reference to their intended use.
- Accurately detect and report any defects or suspected diversions in a timely manner, including any follow-ups when necessary.
- To compute register ratios, test constants and the accuracy of all watthour meters being tested.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of written job procedures.
- Assist with the inventory in the meter lab as needed.
- Responsible for accurately entering meter data and test results in the ADM system and SAP SmartCare systems.
- Have a working knowledge of meter manufacturers’ software and meter programs in order to validate meter configuration and meter table during acceptance testing.
- Proficiently operate the WECO test boards to test all types and forms of meters.
- Clean, inspect and test all types of instrument transformers.
- Perform other appropriate duties as directed.
Skills and Requirements
- Must have an associate degree in Electrical Technology or the equivalent.
- Must be willing to participate in the safety process.
- Must have a thorough knowledge of the safety instructions affecting the work and to perform the work accordingly.
- Must stay current with technology associated with the job classification.
- Must be proficient in the use of personal computers (PC’s), operating systems and metering software applications.
- Must be capable of operating the WECO test boards and time run boards.
- Accurately test meters, maintain proper inventory of parts and supplies, including covers.
- Must have ability to lift 80 lbs.
- Ability to work with others and alone.
- Ability to work within deadlines.
- Must be capable of performing all essential functions of the classification and other appropriate duties as assigned.
