Manager- IT Applications

The IT Applications Manager resides in Augusta, Maine and is largely responsible for the oversight of the IT applications used to support the Central Maine Power organization. This person is responsible for the IT project management and coordination of efforts, maintaining proper tracking and delivery of those efforts in coordination with local, national and global functions.

The role supports feasibility studies, proof of concept, systems design, system implementation and handover to operational support activities required to support the functions of the organizations. This role also supports annual project demand management for the Central Maine Power organization. The position holder will be responsible for all people management activities including annual performance management and continuous mentoring for all staff, developing existing talent and recruiting new talent.


Responsibilities include the following:

Ability to oversee and participate in the management of a comprehensive IT department that includes several line areas or functional work groups of significant depth and complexity.

Management responsibility for the services and activities of the project teams which are located in Augusta, Maine.

Ensure that a coordinated approach is taken to deployment of "best practice" for IT systems.

Ownership of the project demand management for the IT group.

Ability to work effectively under pressure, meets deadlines, meet budgets and adjust to changing priorities.

Strong leadership capabilities and the ability to influence at the executive level.

Plan, direct, coordinate and review the work for assigned groups and staff; assign projects, review and evaluate work product, identify and resolve problems.

Effectively balance project demand against staff availability and utilize contractual resources efficiently where needed.

Manage and participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies and priorities for assigned projects, services, and functional areas within the department.

Monitor and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery and recommend appropriate service and staffing levels.

Participate in the development and administration of the IT annual budget as well as ensuring that costs are kept within budget.

Monitor the ongoing effective operation of internal controls, SOX compliance and anti-fraud processes.

Perform a variety of tasks and have a proven ability to work with minimal supervision.

Provide business and technical expertise to the user community.

Build and sustain strong relationships with key local and global stakeholders.

Build and sustain strong relationships with vendors that provide services to this group

Skills and Requirements

7 years of IT experience

1 years of experience with managing teams.

A Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

Outstanding customer service and communication skills.

Strong teamwork skills with self-motivation to achieve success.

Strong project management, customer service and conflict management skills.

Strong budgeting skills.

Strong knowledge of SAP CRM

Strong knowledge of IT concepts, practices, controls and procedures.

Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical personnel.
